Bangkok, Feb 3 (IANS) Chinese football club Guangzhou Evergrande has set a new Chinese Super League (CSL) record with its $45.8 million signing of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez, the club announced on Wednesday.
The four-year contract with the Colombian is said to be the most expensive transfer during the winter transfer window in the world, reports EFE.
Martinez, 29, the most recent top player to enter the CSL, will join his new team on February 9 in Dubai for winter training after undergoing and passing the medical check.
The striker moved to Atletico in July 2015 for about 35 million euro but failed to settle with that team.
