Hands that Help are Better than Lips that Pray
Mangaluru: Aid without Religion Trust along with colleagues, friends, students. fellow rationalists and admirers of Dr Arunachalam Kumar decided to celebrate his memory by gifting school bags to children of government schools. One such was held at the Gandhi Nagar Higher Primary School at Urwa.
Bags with the slogan hands that help are better than lips that pray and develop scientific temper for the progress of mankind were distributed to the children by Dr Sonali Ullal, professor of Radiology, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and Prabhakar Kapikad, actor and trustee of the Aid Without religion Trust. A short narrative about Dr Kumar was delivered by Narendra Nayak, managing trustee who spoke about his four decades of friendship with Kumar. Dr Sonali Ullal spoke about how he had mentored her through very difficult times in her life and about him influencing her thought processes in her childhood.
The meeting was presided over by the headmaster of the school. Since the schools were closed due to heavy rains, the books for distribution at the Kapikad school were handed over to be distributed next week.
