Fathers play an important role in children’s life. Especially, when it comes to sports ? Father’s enthusiasm and encouragement is truly incredible. When their kids participate in any sports they feel so proud and support them by screaming and cheering ?go son, go, yesssss!!
It is always difficult to pick something for men on father’s day. One thing for sure they love sports more than anything else and I hope you all will agree with me in this regard. As we celebrate father’s day on Sunday, June 18, 2006, I could not pick better theme than what I have picked. Soccer! World Cup! Yes, everywhere you see people are glued to the TV watching World Cup and here is my watermelon carving dedicated to especially to all wonderful Fathers out there.
Watermelons are great thirst quenchers and a colorful fruit for carving.
First wash the watermelon. Pick your theme and outline the sketch. First I worked on the two outlines of boys and scraped the skin carefully by giving a body shape ? eyes, nose, hands legs shorts, shoes etc. you just have to be creative as you scrape the skin off, to give a shape of the person. After you are done with the image, carefully remove the inside parts that look red. For the lines, just zip through your knife to give a semi circle or a line and remove very thin piece as seen on the picture. Make a circle around the image and remove thin layer of skin.
I would like to encourage all our readers and members to try fruit carving but you have to have lot of patience and time. If I can, you can too!
