Haryana: Congress steps up efforts for govt formation

New Delhi:  The Congress has stepped up efforts to explore possible scenarios of forming the government in Haryana.

Party interim chief Sonia Gandhi has spoken to Ahmed Patel and Bhupinder Singh Hooda and has given them a free hand to work accordingly.

Haryana State Congress President Kumari Selja met Patel and said that Haryana has rejected the BJP, apparently giving signals to independents and the JJP for a possible tie-up.

However party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal is a bit cautious as he told IANS that Congress is waiting for the final tally.

The party will only explore the option if it will have numbers enough to stake a claim. Sources say that if Congress crosses the 35-seat mark then it will try for any formation.

But the channel is open with the JJP and independents who are opposed to the BJP.

Hooda may invoke the Jat factor to woo away the JJP.
