HC Praveen Jumps from Court Premises, Dies
Mangaluru: A Head constable who was arrested under the POCSO act jumped from Court premises and died here on March 25.
The deceased has been identified as Praveen from Bajpe. He was arrested under POCSO act.
Speaking to the mediapersons Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “Head Constable Praveen was working in the Bajpe Police station. He was arrested under the POCSO act.
ASI and another police constable had accompanied HC Praveen to the court. Praveen was accused of video recording a girl who was his neighbour while having a bath. He was arrested under the POCSO act. While Praveen was brought to the court, he attempted to escape and jumped from the fourth floor of the Court building. He was rushed to the Government hospital where he breathed his last at 7:50 pm.
When asked whether there was negligence of the police in the death of HC Praveen, Chandra Sekhar said, “The post-mortem will be done to know the exact cause of his death, an Inquiry will be done in this regard. We will investigate the case and cause of the death,” he added.
