HDK Directly Responsible for Demand of Separate Statehood for North Karnataka – Kota Srinivas Poojary
Udupi: “Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is directly responsible for the demand for separate statehood for North Karnataka. The demand came only after neglecting the North Karnataka region in the recent Budget by the chief minister focusing only on two or three districts,” said Kota Srinivas Poojary leader of the Opposition in the Legislative council.
He was speaking at a press meet held at his Udupi office on Tuesday, July 31, “It is the responsibility of the CM to treat all parts of the State equally. The chief minister should stop making baseless allegations against the opposition party. The People of North Karnataka are disappointed with the budget as they were hoping for a special package for the overall development of the region. The budget has favoured only a few districts and has totally neglected North Karnataka. The CM should have called the North-Karnataka MLA’s and discussed their demands,’ he said.
“The chief minister had expanded his Cabinet on June 6 but has not appointed district ministers for many districts. The Independence Day is nearing, who will hoist the flag in district-level programmes? he questioned. The absence of the district in-charge ministers has affected the administration at the district level,” he said.
“Several Congress and JD(S) leaders are ready to join the BJP due to the current political situation. Several Congress and JD(S) leaders are already fed up with Kumarswamy’s rule and are eager to join the BJP. The BJP does not take anyone directly to the party, the party leaders will take the decision in this regard”.
“The elections for urban local bodies is nearing but the state government has not declared the reservation list of the candidates. The HDK government is scared of facing the electorate because it has done little for the people. The government should declare the list of candidates as early as possible”.
“This coalition government will not last long. There is a lot of infighting between the coalition partners. The Congress party also is not happy with chief minister Kumarswamy’s administration. The Chairman of the Co-ordination and Monitoring Committee in the coalition government has openly expressed his disappointment to the government many times. The government is not running by the rules, it runs on CM’s brother Revanna’s Astrology beliefs. Before taking any decision, the minister consults astrologers, how then will this government last for five years,” he questioned.
Speaking about the suspicious death of Shiroor Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji, Kota Srinivas said, “As per the police information, Swamiji’s death was unnatural. We are not interested in any interference with the Math’s administration. The police have received the post-mortem report of the late Shiroor Swamiji and the FSL report has yet come. We also demand an impartial enquiry into the Swamiji’s death and nothing more,” he clarified.
