Mangaluru: The Health officers raided a clinic that was not registered under the KPME act at Suratkal here on April 16.

On April 16, the health officers led by Dr Sikhandar Pasha raided Raghavendra Clinic which was operating illegally. The clinic was operating without renewing the documents under the KPME act that had expired in 2017.

The raid was conducted by the health officer Dr Sikhandar Pasha based on the complaint by the District Health and Family Welfare Department. The clinic has been shut until further orders.

The District Health and Family Welfare Department also said that many hospitals, clinics, laboratories, Homeopathy clinics, Ayush clinics, and other health organizations in the district are illegally running their business without registering under the KPME Act. Some hospitals, clinics, and labs are operating for the past 5 years without any relevant documents. The DHFWD has requested to register or renew their license online. Action will be taken against the hospitals, clinics, and labs which have failed to register under KPME Act.
