Heavy Rain Alert, DC Announces Holiday for Schools and PU Colleges
Mangaluru: The district administration has declared holiday for two days for schools and colleges owing to heavy rain here, on June 8.
According to KSNDMC, 125.5 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Boliyaru Gram Panchayat limits. As of 5:15 am on June 8, 124.5 mm in Kilpady and 125.5 mm of rain in Amtady has been recorded.
From June 7 night, there was heavy rainfall in Puttur, Sullia, Beltangady and Bantwal. Due to the rains, the water level has increased in rural areas and low lying areas and bridges have submerged under water. According to the meteorological department, there will be heavy rainfall in the coastal areas for the next 48 hours.
Keeping in mind the safety of the children, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has announced a holiday for schools and PUC colleges for 2 days. Even fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea as there will be heavy wind for the next 48 hours.
