Heavy Rain Alert in DK, DC Announces Holiday on August 8
Mangaluru: From the past two days there is heavy rain in the coastal region. For the past 24 hours, there has been heavy rain in Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur and Kadaba and most of the rivers are overflowing. The district administration had already declared a holiday on August 7 for schools and colleges owing to heavy rains.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, from August 7 to 9, there will heavy rainfall in Coastal Karnataka. There will be heavy rainfall in the coastal areas for the next 48 hours.
Keeping in mind the safety of the children, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has announced a holiday for schools and colleges, including degree colleges on August 8.
Parents are advised not to send their Children near the rivers, ponds or any low lying areas.
Fishermen have also been warned not to venture into the sea for three days as there will be heavy winds. DC Sasikanth has also requested tourists not to visit the beaches during these days. The district administration has appointed nodal officers who are in constant touch with the DC office control room to attend any emergencies.
