‘HEJJE’-a 4-Day Walk Spreading Awareness on Environment in Mangaluru from 12-15 Oct

“Hejje”, a four-day walk aimed at raising environmental awareness, will commence from Vamajoor in Mangaluru on Thursday. This 58-kilometre walk will be held from October 12.This 58-kilometre walk will be held from October 12 to 15 and is organised by Paper Seed, a social enterprise.

Nithin Vas, founder of Paper Seed, speaking to Team Mangalorean said, ” The walk is a concerted effort to raise awareness about conservation and will witness the participation of people from diverse backgrounds, including students, NSS volunteers, environmentalists, and representatives from various organisations. Along the route, there will be designated spots for awareness sessions, and local panchayats have expressed their interest and are expected to join in the initiative”

” We will address environmental concerns pertaining to the coastal town. In addition to emphasising conservation and sustainable development, the walk will draw attention to issues like sea erosion, pollution from effluents, the increasing population, and the management of solid waste, among others. Approximately 50 students from different colleges are expected to be present along every designated route,” added Vas

The four-day walk will begin from Vamajaoor and cover Kulshekar, Nanthoor, Bendore, Kankanady, Valencia, Mangaladevi, Pandeshwar, Hampankatta, Kottara Chowki, Kulai, Surathkal, Pavanje, Haleangadi, and conclude at the PaperSeed Village in Pakshikere. The entire walk will be documented.
