Hello! SP Sanjeev Patil speaking Receives Good Response with 38 calls in 3 Phone-in Programme
Udupi: 414 cases on shrill horns, 68 drunk and drive and 25 cases for using the mobile phone while riding the bike were registered said District Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Patil. He was speaking to media persons during the 3rd phone-in programme organised at the District Police Office, here on September 2.
73 arrests were made in connection with 72 matka cases, the crackdown on Matka in the district has intensified. 4 arrests were also made in connection with consumption and selling of drugs. The police officials are directed to initiate stringent action leading to the arrest of persons involved in gambling and drug menace.
38 phone calls were received during the phone-in programme on various issues.
A caller said that shrill horns are still used by bus operators in Manipal leading to noise pollution and hearing problems. The caller requested for immediate intervention in this regard. SP said that the drive has been in place to check on shrill horns in buses and effective action will be taken.
Another caller said that liquor has been illegally served in Hotels in rural limits. SP said that strict action will be initiated against the Hotel management that serves liquor without proper approval and licence.
A caller from Kallianpur said that vehicles are parked in no parking areas leading to traffic jam, SP said that immediate action will be initiated.
A caller from Byndoor said that a bar has been shifted near the residential area creating problems to the general public, SP said that the effective action will be initiated.
Another caller urged the SP to crack down on people who drink and drive, he said that 25 cases are registered and the cases will be booked against those who drink and drive. A caller from Malpe said that drunkards create problems to the general public near the Malpe-Padukere Bridge. SP said that effective action will be taken, the police officials of Malpe Police Station will be directed to solve the issue.
Another caller said that people play cards in the Shankernaryan station limits, SP said that the officials of Shankernaryan police Station will take effective action. Another caller said that the students of Bramhavar GM Vidyaniketan School are found travelling dangerously on footboards of buses, SP said that the Bramhavar police will be directed to take appropriate action. Another caller said that people were taking a loan for gambling, SP said that effective action will be initiated.
A caller said that some people were involved in gambling near Padubidri and police were not initiating any action, SP Said that effective action will be taken. Vehicles are parked in an inappropriate manner near Venkatramana Temple, Karkala, he said that the Karkal police will be given directions to solve the issue.
A home guard from Bramhavar said that he was not given any duties to perform, SP said that he would consult the District Commandant of Home Guards on the issue.
A caller said that the officers are bribed for allowing to carry out illegal liquor sale in a Hotel in Hosangadi, SP directed the caller to complain the matter to the ACB.
Another caller congratulated the District Superintendent of Police for supervising the security in Gangolli for celebrating Barkid in peaceful manner.
