Mangaluru: Tanya Daniella Rasquinha is a young Mangalorean girl who loves nature and has a lot of aspirations to bring in changes in the prevailing environmental situation. It’s a great pride for us Indians specially Mangaloreans, for Tanya to be selected as the Global Climate Change Ambassador from India. Tanya is the daughter of Maj-Gen. Neville Rasquinha VSM, a retired Army Officer and Sandra Rasquinha, an ex-Banker and now a homemaker. Her brother Maj Rohit Lionel Rasquinha, is an Army Aviation pilot. She is the granddaughter of late. Maj Francis L Rasquinha. Three generation as officers in the Army is a great feat to be proud of. Tanya has graduated from the Army College as a Designer who uses her design skills for Social and Civic Impact. She always thinks out of the box and wants to make a difference in people’s lives especially the underprivileged.

Tanya wants to combine her Design thinking and Leadership skills to craft innovative and effective solutions to improve sustainable living. She is very passionate about the environment and her concern for the fragile ecological balance due to Global Warming, is what is making her undertake this Antarctica Expedition. Her biggest challenge as of now is to raise the funds for this mission. She belongs to a very simple, humble background hence needs the help.

The “Leadership on the Edge” program hosted by Sir Robert Swan is a highly selective program (only 2% of the total of the total number of applicants from all over the world get selected ). It is a aimed to engage and inspire the next generation of leaders to take responsibility to build resilient communities and in doing so, preserve Antarctica-last great wilderness on Earth.

The total cost of the expedition is approx Rs 10 lakhs. Tanya has already paid approx Rs 1.4 lakhs from her savings account to book her place on the expedition. In spite of assistance from close relatives, she is still falling short of funds. Tanya is, therefore, trying to bridge the gap through ‘Crowd Funding’ by approaching friends, colleagues, like-minded individuals and other relatives for donations. She is also approaching Corporate firms for sponsorship. This marketing effort is also helping her hone her social skills. Help her realize her dream by contributing to her Crowdfunding campaign. As of now, Tanya has raised $2,306 USD through the contribution from 21 people in one month, which is 18% of $13,000 goal?

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Tanya said, “I am passionate about design and people. I believe in creating products that have a purpose and serve a need, aren’t just pretty and entertaining. My work has been varied but the core has always been designing and user experience and the focus to craft wholesome solutions. Having worked with multiple companies I have had a good exposure to business management, marketing, client interface and design sensitivity. An enthusiastic traveler, I have studied, worked and backpacked all around India. I believe experience teaches a lot and my appreciation for music, dance, art and travel add value to everything I do. I want to accomplish this mission “Antarctic Expedition”, for which I need support and blessings from people. Help me make my dreams come true – thank You!”
