Hemanath needs Treatment in NIMHANS to remember Favours he Received from Poojary – Kallige Taranath Shetty

Mangaluru: Following the remarks made by Kavu Hemanath Shetty against senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary questioning his relevance in the party, senior Congress leader Kallige Taranath Shetty held a press meet at Hotel Woodlands here, on June 9.

Addressing the mediapersons, Taranath Shetty said, “From the past 40 years, I have been in the Congress party and I have seen the work of Janardhan Poojary. Many people are working for the success of the Congress. I joined the party in 1976 and have still continued in the same party unlike Hemanath Shetty who keeps jumping from party to party. When his wife Anita Shetty contested for the ZP elections 5 years ago, the BJP did not allow him to campaign in Puttur. Hemanath came to Poojary begging for help with the campaigning. Poojary immediately came to Puttur and approached the BJP workers and said that he was campaigning for Anita and she won the ZP elections. For the second time when Anita contested for the ZP elections, falling to Poojary’s feet, she sought his blessings and thanked him for his help and support.”

“Taranath further said that when Sorake had contested for elections, Hemanath Shetty joined hands with DVS to defeat Sorake in the elections. During the next elections, Hemanat brought Madani to Puttur to defeat Vinay Kumar Sorake but he did not succeed in his attempt. When Shakunthala Shetty contested the elections, Hemanath was also contesting against her. When Sankappa, Sudhakar Rai and Bondala Jagannath Shetty contested the elections from the Congress, even then Hemanath did not seem to be happy.”

“When Indira Gandhi came to Mangaluru for the election campaign, she spoke about Poojary and addressed him as, “Poorman’s Poojary”. I feel pity for Hemanath. It is common that after 70 years of age, people get dementia but Hemanath has been sick much before that and needs to be taken to NIMHANS. Only then will he realize all the favours that he had received from Poojary.”

Taranath also recalled Kavu Hemanath’s warning of showing black flags to Poojary when he visits Puttur. “If he has the courage let him wave black flags. Hemanath had also advised Pooajry to stay away from the Congress party and to become a swamiji in a Math. We know which Math he is referring to. We are blind followers of Janardhan Poojary and the Congress party. If anyone is supporting Hemanath to comment against Poojary, let them come out and speak openly. We want to confirm whether a Congress leader took a delegation to Bengaluru to meet the CM and complain against Poojary. If Ivan, Rai or anyone had gone to Bengaluru along with Hemanath, let them come and tell us, we will give them a befitting response,” he added.

When asked whether Rai, Ivan or any other leaders had led the delegation to Bengaluru, Taranath Shetty replied that he did not point out that any leader was directly involved. “But if they are involved, then let them come forward. If Hemanath is willing to admit in NIMHANS, we will do all the arrangements to admit him to that hospital,” said Taranath taking a jibe at Hemanath. He also said that some Hemanath might have met the CM on this issue to appease him and get a ticket for the next elections.
