Rome, April 5 (IANS) Italian football club Napoli’s Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain faces suspension for at least three games for his repeated protests to the referee after being sent off in a 1-3 Serie A loss against Udinese.

Sports judge Gianpaolo Tosel will take the final decision after reviewing the report of referee Massimiliano Irrati and the reaction of Higuain, who confronted the referee and pushed him with both hands after receiving a yellow card, reports Efe.

The penalty provided for similar situations is a three-game suspension. If applicable, the top goal scorer of Serie A will miss the matches against Verona, Inter Milan and Bologna.

Bolivia’s The Strongest seeks qualification against River Plate

La Paz, April 5 (IANS) Bolivian football club The Strongest will be looking for a win in the fourth match of the Copa Libertadores against Argentina’s River Plate on Wednesday.

The Bolivian team’s coach, Mauricio Soria, said on Monday that he will repeat almost the same starting eleven that recently faced Brazil’s Sao Paulo. The Strongest won the match 1-0, reports Xinhua news agency.

“There is trust in the team. We have to enter the pitch with attitude and concentration to get a good result that could mean we go through to the next round,” Soria said.

The coach highlighted the Argentine side’s potential, however, he added that matches are played on the pitch and because of that “anything could happen.”

On Wednesday, Sao Paulo and Venezuela’s Trujillanos will kick off the fourth fixture in Group One with group leaders The Strongest facing defending champions River Plate later in the day.

In second place in the group with five points, River Plate’s mission will be to defeat the Bolivian side and remove them from the top of the results table, where they currently have seven points.

“With plenty of enthusiasm and special motivation, because it is one of best Argentinian teams, we have to do something similar to what we did with Sao Paulo,” said midfielder Walter Veizaga on Monday.

The Stongest’s coach also added defender Fernando Marteli and midfielder Alejandro Chumacero to the squad after they recovered from injuries sustained while representing their national team in the World Cup qualifiers.
