Hindu Organizations should not be Puppets of BJP – Deviprasad Shetty
Mangaluru: “The BJP leaders are trying to divide the community by playing with the sentiments of the people. As the elections are nearing the BJP leaders are afraid of losing the elections in Karnataka. BJP leaders are shocked to see the development work done by the Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah. Even in the Mangaluru North Constituency MLA Moideen Bava is working hard for the total development of the constituency which the opposition cannot digest. Some miscreants have composed a song by giving the tune of Ayyappa parody and are trying to defame MLA Bava. I urge the Hindu organizations not to be the puppets of BJP because the BJP is trying to create communal disturbance in the district”, said the president of Mangaluru North Deviprasad Shetty in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on March 13.
Addressing the mediapersons Deviprasad Shetty said, “MLA Moideen Bava is working for the development of his constituency and in five years of his tenure has done a lot of development work in Suratkal with the government funds. MLA Bava is treating people of all communities equally. He is a follower of Ayyappa Swamy and when the Ayyappa devotees organized Puja, Bava personally supported them. Some people are trying to defame MLA Bava since the elections are nearing, this is a conspiracy by the BJP. If the BJP wants to come for debate let them discuss the development work done. The BJP MLA of North Constituency was watching the blue film in the Assembly. Their former CM had gone to jail for corruption, he has even taken bribe through cheque. But MLA Moideen Bava has mingled with the people of all communities in his constituency and has created his own identity which the BJP cannot digest”.
Deviprasad Shetty further said, “Whoever is trying to tarnish the image of MLA Bava through the song campaign, should be punished. We have already approached the police and requested them to investigate the matter. MLA Bava has also apologised through the media if any Ayyappa followers have been hurt by this. We request the people to stop forwarding the song through social media. We are also Hindus and we are with Bava because he has never discriminated against anyone. Hindu organizations should think that there are Hindus also in the Congress and not just in the BJP. If the song campaign will not be stopped by the BJP, we the Hindus in Suratkal will approach all the Swamijis of all the Temples, and the leaders of Hindu organizations and stage a massive protest.”
Deviprasad Shetty also said, “Those who have violated the law and played with the sentiments of the people by distorting the Ayyappa devotional song will be punished. Moideen Bava is a secular leader and the BJP leaders are trying to defame him.”
Jayasheel Adyanthyaya, Krishna Amin, Surendra Kambali and others were also present.
