Hindu Outfits ask CM Kumaraswamy to Stop Tipu Jayanti
Udupi: The Bajrang Dal, Hindu Jagarana Vedike and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will oppose Tipu Jayanti celebrations across the State if the government goes ahead with its plans to hold it on November 10, said Sunil K R Regional convener of Bajrang Dal’s Karnataka (south) unit.
He was speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club on Wednesday, November 7, the VHP and the Bajrang Dal would not allow the government to hold either the birth or death anniversary of Tipu Sultan who “Had carried out atrocities against Hindus and Christians”.
Chief Minister Kumaraswamy should stop appeasing a community by organising Tipu Jayanti. For the sake of votes, the government should not create a state of unrest in the State,” he said.
People of Kodagu and Christians from the Coastal belt of the State are opposed to the Tipu Jayanti celebrations as Tipu Sultan had committed atrocities against Hindus and Christians
The State government should not repeat the mistake they committed two years back by organising Tipu Jayanti that led to tension. VHP and Bajrang Dal would join other organisations in protesting against the Tipu Jayanti.
He is also alleged that Tipu had destroyed places of worship belonging to Hindu and Christian communities. He had killed thousands of Hindus and forcibly converted many to Islam. Tipu Sultan had not promoted Kannada during his rule and he was an anti-Kannadiga, he said.
District convener of Bajrang Dal, Dinesh Mendon, Hindu Jagarana Vedike district president, Prashanth Nayak, district chief secretary of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Prakash Kukkehalli and Hindu Jagarana Vedike secretary, Shankar Kota, were present.
