Historical ‘Chalo Udupi’ Jatha valedictory rally begins

Udupi: The valedictory rally of the Swabhimani Sangharsha Jatha – ‘Chalo Udupi’ which started in Bengaluru, began on Sunday, October 9, at the Ajjarkad War memorial Udupi.

The jatha, organised by a group of like-minded organizations, was taken out from Bengaluru to Udupi demanding land for the landless and asserting freedom of food habits.

The rally was flagged off by a member Balraj family who was attacked by the Sangh Parivar activist in Jaipur, Rajastan.

The procession will pass through Jodu Katte – Court Road – Kavi Muddana Road – Service Bus Stand – BSNL Road – Chittaranjan Circle – Mitra Hospital Road – Fish Market Road – Volakadu School Road and will culminate at the Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Ranga Mandira.

After the procession, a mega convention will be addressed by the main speaker Jignesh Mewani, social activist and organizer of ‘Una Chalo’ movement. Jayamrutyunjaya Swami of Panchamashali Gurupeetha, Dinesh Amin Mattu, C S Dwarkanath, Bhaskar Prasad, Ananth Naik, Vikas Mourya, Gowri, Akhila, Hulikunte Moorthy, Dr Vasu, Peer Bhasa, Vishwanath Pethri, Fr William Martis, Shashidhar Hemmadi and others will participate in the convention.

Dalit leader Laxminarayan Nagavara said that Udupi has catered communal harmony, Kudmul Ranga Rao promoted communal harmony while the Pejawar Swamiji is mentoring conflict between communities. The organizers have created history by organizing “Udupi Chalo”. Pejawar Swamiji should visit the houses of the rich rather than visiting the houses of the poor and deprived. He should educate the rich on the atrocities haunting the deprived and backward classes. Some people of the upper caste promote atrocities against the deprived and backward classes. Narayan Guru, Kudmul Ranga Rao should be models of the Dalits and not Pejawar Swamiji. The Constitution of India should become our religion, he said.
