HM Dr Parameshwar Flags Off 25 High-tech Maruti Ertiga Hoysala patrol vehicles

Mangaluru: Home minister Dr G Parameshwar flagged off the High-tech Maruti Ertiga Hoysala police patrol vehicles for the police to deal with crimes and reach the crime spot immediately, in front of the Police commissionerate here on January 12.

After flagging off the vehicles, addressing the mediapersons Dr Parameshwar said, “The state government has provided 25 vehicles to the police commissionerate to perform their duty efficiently and to prevent crime. We have provided vehicles to the police because during the rainy season, during night time and in emergencies while on patrol police find it difficult to reach the spot on time. The commissionerate under the City corporation limits in Bengaluru there are 322 vehicles patrolling the city. Mangaluru is the second city in the state to have such vehicles, in the coming weeks we will flag off such vehicles in other districts. Our aim is to provide safety to the general public. When there are any incidents reported, the police can reach the spot without delay.  The police Beat system should be strengthened, the police who are on the beat in any area should have information about the residents, the peoples representatives, writers or well known personalities. With the help of these vehicles, the police can reach the location immediately.”

The concept behind handing over 25 Hoysala patrol vehicles to the Mangaluru commissionerate is to act quickly during the time of crime or other incidents. The government has decided to provide vehicles to the city commissionerate in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Belgaum, Hubballi, Gulbarga and Mangaluru to prevent crime or to reach the crime spot within a short time as well as for a successful police beat system. Through these vehicles, the police will be able to reach any place during emergencies in a short time. These vehicles should be used only for patrolling since the vehicles are equipped with all the modern gadgets which are directly connected to the control room for communication and to know the location of the vehicle. The vehicles will not have limitations area wise, the vehicle which is near to the spot of the incident will receive a message to reach the spot.

We will appoint an ASI with firearm experience and a constable as driver. In the coming days, we will appoint women police for the safety of women.  People’s safety is important for us and the police will be provided all the facilities in this regard. We are taking all the measures to fill 21,000 posts in the police department. We have already recruited 16,000 police constables and already 75% have completed their training and sent to the various police stations. In the coming days, we will complete the remaining 8000 recruitment’s. In three years of time, we will fill all the vacant posts. We have already interviewed 1000 police personnel for the post of Sub-Inspectors.  Already 100 Sub-Inspectors have been appointed. Every year 3000 police retire and we need to fill those vacant posts. We have taken all the measures to provide necessary facilities to the police department. 11,212 constables and head constables have been given promotions. Earlier it was taking 22 years to get promotion but  here after every constable will retire as an ASI or circle inspector. This is the first time the government has given promotions in such a way to the police department.
