‘Holapu – 2017’ for the Elected Representatives gets Colourful Start
Udupi: The day-long Sports meet “Holapu – 2017″ for the elected representatives from local and urban bodies of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts was flagged off at the Viveka institute Kota on Sunday, October 29.
“Holapu – 2017” was organized under the aegis of the Kotatattu Gram Panchayat to mark the birth anniversary of Kota Shivaram Karanth.
The Sports meet began with the State Anthem, Ananda C Kunder honorary president of the Sports meet welcomed the gathering. MLC Kota Srinivas Paxoojary delivered the introductory remarks.
Dinakar Babu president Udupi Zilla Panchayat received the guard of honour by the elected representatives from local and urban bodies of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, while former MP Jayaprakash Hegde hoisted the flag. Harish Kumar managing trustee of Kollur temple released the balloons in the air. The Sports torch was carried from Kotathattu Gram Panchayat to the Vivika Ground by national-level athletes.
Dr M N Rajendra Kumar president of SCDCC bank officially inaugurated the sports contest “Holapu – 2017” by lighting the lamp and wished all success.
About 270 gram panchayats, TPs, two ZPs, Pattana Panchayats, CMCs of the twin districts took part in the sports meet. Various sports and cultural events like 100-meter race, Shot-put, Ring in the wicket, Throw-ball, Tug of War, Super Minute, Singing, Quiz and Fancy dress competitions are being held. More than 4000 participants are taking part in the competitions.
Kotatattu Gram Panchayat president H Pramod Hande presided over the programme. Udupi TP president Nalini Pradeep Rao, Kundapur TP president Jayashree Sudhakar, Karkala TP president Malathi, ZP members Raghavendra Kanchan, Shobha Shetty, Srilatha Shetty, and others were present.
