Holding Iftar in Math by Pejawar Swamiji has Hurt Hindu community – Pramod Muthalik
Udupi: “Holding the Iftar programme in the Sri Krishna Math by Pejawar Swamiji has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community”, said the founder of Sri Ram Sene Pramod Muthalik. He was speaking to the media persons on June 26, during his visit to Sri Krishna Math to discuss on the Iftar programme held there.
Muthalik further said, “Sri Krishna is fondly called as Gopala (protector of cows) but the Pejawar Swamiji has invited cow slaughterers and beef consumers to the Sri Krishna Math which has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. Pejawar Swamiji is the guide to the Hindu community and has led the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. We are protecting cows by sacrificing our lives, while the Swamiji has invited the cow slaughterers to Sri Krishna Math which has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community in the State”.
Pramod also said, “I had cancelled all my programmes as the people are gearing up for a protest against the Swamiji. Today, I met the Pejawar Swamiji but he is defending his stand for hosting the Iftar. Swamiji says that brotherhood, tolerance and peace are the symbols of the Hindu community. These programmes should be kept outside the Math. Have the Muslims celebrated Ganeshotsava, Sankranti or any other Hindu festivals in their Mosques? Then why should we allow their religious practices to be the part of our temples?” he questioned.
“What message is conveyed to the Gau Rakshaks, the hosting of the Iftar will be henceforth followed by other Swamijis who acclaim the Paryaya Peeta. Then the other political leaders from JD(S) and BJP will follow such system and celebrate Iftar for vote bank but religion is not for vote bank. The Swamiji could have hosted the Iftar outside the temple which we would not have opposed. We will take a stand on this issue”, Pramod said.
