Holy Family Communication Centre Celebrates Annual Day with Focus on Digital Innovation for Sustainability

Goa: The Holy Family Communication Centre in Sancoale recently hosted its Annual Day at the Holy Family Multipurpose Hall, featuring an inter-school competition that engaged students from Pre-Primary to Ninth Standard, as well as participants from local social centres and Formees of the Holy Family Educational Society. This year’s theme, “Digital Innovation for Sustainability,” aimed to educate and inspire students about the critical role of digital tools and technologies in promoting sustainable practices.

The event began with a prayer dance, invoking divine blessings, followed by a warm welcome address from Sr. Molly Fernandes, the director of the Communication Centre. In her speech, Sr. Fernandes emphasized the importance of integrating digital innovation into daily life to foster a sustainable future. Drawing from the biblical narrative of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, she stated, “Till it and take care of it,” underscoring our responsibility to nurture the environment. She encouraged attendees to embrace digital solutions as a means to create a more sustainable world for future generations.

Sr. Fernandes expressed her gratitude to the students, staff, and distinguished guests for their participation and support, urging everyone to commit to leveraging digital innovation to tackle environmental and societal challenges.

The event featured a floral potted welcome for dignitaries and guests, symbolizing growth and sustainability, and setting a positive tone for the proceedings.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Guarang S. Patkar, delivered an inspiring address, expressing his honor to participate in the celebrations. He highlighted that the theme “Digital Innovation for Sustainability” is not only timely but essential in today’s world. Mr. Patkar remarked on the significant advancements in technology and the need for collaboration among businesses, governments, and individuals to harness the potential of digital technologies while safeguarding the environment.

He encouraged attendees to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation, stating, “Through innovation, we can create solutions that benefit humanity and safeguard the planet.” He concluded with gratitude, wishing continued success to all and expressing anticipation for the positive impact of their efforts on the future.

The event also included a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing students for their outstanding achievements across various fields, including academic excellence and contributions to sustainable practices. St. Michael’s Convent High School from Anjuna was awarded the prestigious rolling trophy.

In addition, the quarterly magazine of the Holy Family Sisters, ‘SAVERA,’ was launched during the event, focusing on the theme “Digital Missionaries.”

Tokens of appreciation were presented to the guests and the Chief Guest, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the event. The presence of Rev. Fr. Eddison Fernandes, the Guest of Honour, and Sr. Berna Rodrigues, the Superior General, further elevated the occasion, serving as a source of inspiration for both students and staff.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Sr. Francilla Mascarenhas, who acknowledged the contributions of all who made the day a success. Sr. Aida Rodrigues, the host for the day, ensured the event proceeded smoothly, engaging the audience throughout.

The Communication Annual Day was a resounding success, leaving students inspired and informed about the importance of digital innovation for sustainability. The event not only celebrated achievements but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards building a sustainable future.
