Honest Driver Returns Life Saving Medicines to KMC Hospital, Mangaluru left in His Auto-Rickshaw by a Patient/Passenger
Mangaluru : At a time when the country and the state are reeling under cases of corruption, a case of honesty and integrity has come to fore. A City auto-rickshaw driver, returned to the patient’s doctor important documents (case file) and life saving medicines that was left in his auto by the passenger. Meet honest and a “Good Samaritan” Auto-Rickshaw driver Salaam Yousuf, who showed to the world that honesty is the best policy. There are good auto-rickshaw drivers and then there are Bad, but with no doubt, we can say that Yousuf falls in the former category of good and honest drivers.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Dr Padmanabha Kamath- a Interventional Cardiologist at Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru said, “Covid -19 is imposing lot of hardships for the common man and it is not sparing any particular population. A cardiac patient who after his visit to KMC hospital ( after great difficulty he had got the appointment) where I had examined him, had left his case file and life saving medicines in the auto-rickshaw he traveled. The auto-rickshaw driver who later noticed the stuff left behind by his passenger, called me as my phone number was printed in the case record. Later through the hospital records, the patients credentials were traced and our housekeeping staff Ms Bharathi Suraj finding patients phone number through hospital records, made a phone call to the patient, and the driver returned the case file and all the drugs which the patient had painstakingly purchased. This case exemplifies the presence of good Samaritans in all walks of life and we salute these real life heroes in uniform “.
It is true when people say that “Honesty is the best policy”, and auto driver Saalam Yousuf showed us all through his example. Team Mangalorean appreciates the honesty Yousuf has showcased. We sincerely hope that there are more people like him in the world, and for that matter, in Kudla too. Thank You, Auto Raja!
