Chennai, Sep 8 (IANS) Director Krish says it was an honour to work with veteran filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who plays a cameo in his forthcoming Telugu directorial “Kanche”, a love story set against the backdrop of World War II.

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is known for memorable classics such as “Pushpak”, “Aditya 369” and “Mayuri”.

“It was a surreal moment for me. For long I’ve wished to work with him. It was an honour to have finally got that opportunity in this film,” Krish told IANS.

In “Kanche”, which features Varun Tej and Pragya Jaiswal in the lead, Singeetham plays a pianist.

“He plays a piano master and features in two scenes. It’s a very colourful character. The scenes unfold in 1936 in a club in Madras where Varun works part-time before he becomes a soldier,” he said.

According to Krish, the octogenarian filmmaker’s look in the film is inspired from Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known to the world at KFC.

Krish, who thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Singeetham, believes the latter hasn’t been given his due.

“He deserves much more. His films have inspired an entire generation of film lovers and filmmakers such as me,” he said.

“Kanche”, which is slated for worldwide release on October 2, also features Srinivas Avasarala and Nikitin Dheer in important roles.
