Horata Samiti Violating Model Code of Conduct sending Post Cards on House Scheme
Mangaluru: “When the Model Code of Conduct is in force, a party in the name of “Horata Samiti” has been sending postcards for those who do not have own houses to attend a meeting at the Don Bosco Hall on April 15. The Horata Samiti is sending postcards with contact numbers and asking them to visit their office near the Old Bus stand, Hampankatta. We request all not to fall prey to such campaign’s”, said former Mayor Mahabala Marla in a press meet held at the Congress office here on April 11.
Addressing the mediapersons Mahabala Marla said, “When a person who had received the postcard, receiver called the number, the receiver asked him to come to the Hampankatta office. The government has already handed over the documents to 930 applicants and the work is in progress in South Constituency under the Ashraya Scheme. In South constituency, we had received 4034 applications in which 930 applicants have received the documents. In the North constituency, we received 2892 applications of which 1777 applications have been selected and 600 houses have been distributed. Due to the model code of conduct the construction work in South Constituency has stopped.”
Marla further said, “This is the first time in 2017 we have started the Ashraya scheme and distributed land rights to the beneficiaries. We are identifying the land in the MCC limits and constructing flats. But the Horata Samiti is creating confusion among the beneficiaries by sending postcards to attend a meeting at the Don Bosco Hall. I request all not to attend such meetings since those who have applied with proper documents will get housing .”
Congress spokesperson Vinayraj, T K Sudheer, Neerajpal and Raghuraj Kadri were also present.
