Hospital Crew Got Talents! AJ Hospital hosts ‘ Hospitalentz’

Hospital Crew Got Talents! AJ Hospital and Research Centre on completion of 15th year of its service to the society, organized the Second Edition of ‘Hospitalentz‘- a Inter-Hospital Variety Contest exclusively for ‘On Roll Employees’ of Hospitals/Nursing Homes, excluding Doctors and Students

Mangaluru: If “India’s Got Talents”, then surely “Hospital Staff Got Talents” too! That’s right- and this was witnessed by a large audience which had gathered at the AJ Medical College Auditorium to encourage and support their colleagues who unleashed their hidden talents, during an Inter-Hospital Variety Competition organized by AJ Hospital and Research Centre-Mangaluru for the second time, on the completion of 15th year of its service to the society. Why only give a chance to Doctors and medical students to unleash their talents, why not also give a chance for other hospitals on roll employees to show their talents in front of the live audience – allowing them to prove that they too can dance, sing, act and what not? With this motto, the management of AJ Hospital came up with an initiative to organize this contest exclusively for the Hospital staff.

We should all know that every employee in the healthcare sector is a valuable resource person, who gives a healing touch to patients and the society through dedication and commitment. But unfortunately, these people rarely get an opportunity to explore their talents due to their hectic and busy schedule, handling the hospital related duties. Keeping this in mind, and to provide a platform to nurture the talents of healthcare employees, the hospital management decided on organizing ‘Hospitalentz’, where the hospital crew was able to showcase their talents in the form of music, songs, dance, acting and beyond.

The inauguration of this Contest was held on Saturday, 15 October at the AJ Medical College auditorium, where Yenepoya Mohammed Farhad- Director, Yenepoya University had the honors to inaugurate “Hospitalentz’, along with Kannada movie actress – the Kudla lass Neha Shetty, Dr Prashanth Marla- Medical Director, AJHRC, and Jayaram-Medical Superintendent. . Addressing the audience, Farhad Yenepoya said, ” I need to compliment AJ Hospital management for coming up with such a unique concept of having a contest exclusively for the hospital staff, where they can explore the talents hidden among them. This also has given an opportunity for Yenepoya hospital staff to come here and unleash their talents. Contests like these will encourage and make these hospital staff happy and will make them feel that they too are given a chance among their higher authorities and medical students to showcase their strength and talents. Wish the contest all success”.

Also expressing her feelings, Neha Shetty said, ” Before I had planned on becoming a film actress, I always wanted to become a gynecologist, since my mom is also in the medical field. I too was involved actively in co-curricular activities and stage acting during my teenage days. I feel this is a very good initiative taken by AJ Hospital in giving an ample opportunity for hospital employees, other than doctors and medical students, to come forward and show that they too can perform and entertain others. No, we know that hospital employees also have talents. I wish all these participants best of luck in the contest, who have taken a break from work and have come here for some fun and frolic”.

Seven hospital teams namely- “Daffodi” (CSI Lombard, Udupi) ; “Blue Bell” ( Yenepoya Hospital-Deralakatte); “Lavender” (City Hospital, Udupi); ‘Aster” (Kasturba Medical College Hospital-Attavar, Mangaluru) ; “Orchid” ( Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru); “Iris” ( Prasad Nethralaya, Udupi); and “Primrose” ( MS Ramaiah Hospital, Bengaluru). Each team was allotted 20 minutes for their performance, and their performances were judged by three professional judges, namely Gauri SuhasRai, Sachin Sherrigar and Pranesh Bolar, all three well-experienced in the field of entertainment, choreography and art.

The Valedictory and prize distribution were held the same evening, where Chairman of AJ Hospital and Institutions, Dr AJ Shetty graced the occasion as the Chief guest. In his address, he said, ” Our hospital which started 15 years ago has provided the best care and service to everyone who comes here, through our experienced doctors and other medical personnel. In any hospital, other than the medical fraternity, even the other staff are also important and also need to be recognized. By organizing contest like this one, we encourage them and make them feel that they too are not forgotten. Winning is not important, but taking part is that matters. I assure you that we will continue organizing such events in future also, and you all have my support”.
