House burglar arrested; materials, worth Rs 50 lakh, seized
Udupi: Udupi police arrested a notorious burglar involved in a house burglary in Kunjibettu near Balaipade, Udyavara on Wednesday.
Police seized 530 gms of gold worth Rs 31,55 930, 16.800 gms of silver worth Rs 15,12,000 and a car worth Rs 2.50 lakh. Speaking to reporters, Additional Superintendent (ASP) of Police S T Siddalingappa said the accused is Manju- nath alias Kalkere Manju from Uttarhalli, Bengaluru.
At night on August 8, burglars broke into Ammunje Vittaladas Nayak’s house and decamped with 1,882 gms of gold jewellery worth Rs 73,06,800 and 7,450 gms of silver.
Police suspect that he was also involved in burglaries of houses in Brahmavara, Tarikere, Arasikere and Banavara police station limits. Over 60 cases had been filed against Manjunath at police stations in Bengaluru, Kolar, Tumkur, Davanagere and Chikkaballapur districts.
