HSST Holds Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava at Kulshekar
Mangaluru: The Hindu Seva Samiti Trust organized the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Sarvajanika Shree Ganeshotsava at Kulshekar here on September 2.
The five-day celebrations began on September 2 by installing the 8.5 ft tall Ganesh Idol at the Pendal. The trustees of the Hindu Seva Samiti Trust took the Ganesh Idol in a procession before installing it.
Speaking to mangalorean.com president of the Sarvajanika Shree Ganeshotsava Samiti Achuth Bhat said, “This is the 50th year of the Ganeshotsava and I wish everyone a happy Ganeshotsava. We have installed an 8.5 ft Ganesha idol at the pandal. We will start with the Homa and Mahapuja which will be held in the afternoon. In the evening the Ranga Puja will be held. On September 3, the Mahaganapati Homa will be held. On September 4, Atharvashirsh Mahayaga will be held and on 5 September there is a Ganayaga with 108 Coconuts. We have Annadana for three days. From the past 50 years, many people have supported us to celebrate the Ganeshotsava, we will honour them during these 5 days”.
Achut Bhat further said, “In 49 years we were celebrating the Ganeshotsava for 3 days, Lord Ganesha has blessed the people of Kulshekar. We have constructed a Ganesha Mandir in 12 cents of land near the Shanishwara Temple at a cost of Rs 2 Crore which will be inaugurated soon. I wish all the residents of this area to prosper and I thank Ramachanrda Bhandarkar, Narasimha Prabhu and Nagesh Anchan who are the main pillars of this Ganeshotsava celebrations”.
When asked about the celebrations for five days this year, Achut Bhat said, “This year we have extended the celebrations for five days, we have installed huge Ganesh Idol to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations. Lord Ganesh has blessed us for 49 years and we have prospered. All the devotees join hands to celebrate the Golden jubilee of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava for 5 days. Lord Ganesh is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. In these five days let Lord Ganesh remove all the obstacles and bless all of his devotees.”
Speaking to mangalorean.com Trustee of Hindu Seva Samiti Trust Prashanth Prabhu said, “Fifty years ago Ramachandra Bhandarkar, Narasimha Prabhu and Nagesh Anchan started the Ganeshotsava celebrations here in the year 1970. The first Ganeshotsava celebrations were held in the Gajanana Compound Kulshekar by Narasimha Prabhu, later Ramachandra Bhandarkar, Nagesh Anchan, Basti Vaman Shenoy and others joined hands. Now Ramachandra Bhandarkar and my father Narasimha Prabhu are no more but their blessings are with us. We have disciplined people in our trust who are committed to continuing the Ganeshotsava celebrations”.
