Huge Compound Wall Collapsed on Shivbagh Road Blocks Vehicle Movement

Mangaluru: The heavy rains lashing the City has created havoc all over the City, and beyond. Roads have been flooded due to overflow of water- and on many city routes buses have ceased service since it has been hard to wade through the stranded water. One would image, how would a City face such an overflow of water, when recently MCC had undertaken a massive work in reconstructing the drainage work. And it has been just a few days that we have experienced heavy rains in this Monsoon- what would be the situation during the next few days or few months until the monsoon last. We have seen this in the past, and we are experiencing now and in future too. SHABBY WORK BY MCC?

Now coming to the main topic, regarding the huge wall collapse due to incessant rain this morning, the compound wall belonging to Ashok Ckowta, residing at the mega-mansion “Aashiyana” on Shivbagh road collapsed on the road, {road entering from Kadri Road near Jimmy’s Super Market into Shivbagh Road} blocking the entire movement of the vehicles on that road.

An employee of business firm which is located right in front of Chowta’s house said, ” We were all having our lunch, and suddenly there was a huge thud sound, which scared many of us. We quickly rushed outside, and to our surprise we saw the compound wall had collapsed due to this morning’s heavy rains. Luckily no one was walking nor there was any movement of vehicles, because on other days there is constant vehicle movement and also many residents walk. But due to heavy downpour, people stayed inside, that’s good news”.

Loose soil below the compound wall and recent road construction on this road where the workers could have done a shabby job, could be the reason for this decades old wall to come down. Anyways, glad that no one was hurt.
