Husainabba’s Suspicious Death, 6 more including 3 police Arrested
Udupi: The SP of Udupi Laxman Nimbargi has informed that six more persons, including 3 police officers, have been arrested by the Udupi police in connection with the suspicious death of cattle trader Husainabba (62) near a coffee plant in Perdoor on May 30.
The arrested have been identified as D N Kumar (SI of Hiriyadka), Gopal (Jeep Driver, Hiriyadka Police Station), Mohan Kothwal PC, Chethan Acharya (22), Shailesh Shetty (20) and Ganesh Naik (24) – residents of Perdoor. During interrogation, the arrested police officials confessed before the investigation officer that the incident occurred in front of them.
On June 1, the police arrested 4 persons – Suresh Mendon alias Suri (43), Prasad H Kondady (30), Rathan and Deepak Shetty. All four were sent to judicial custody.
On May 31, SP Nimbargi suspended sub-inspector D N Kumar for negligence while on duty and for disobeying the orders of senior officers.
The police have so far arrested a total of 10 persons in this case.
The relatives of Husainabba had alleged that Bajrang Dal activists had manhandled him leading to his death. In a complaint registered at the Hiriyadka police station, Mohammed Ismail (Husainabba’s younger brother) had stated that on May 30 at around 4:00 am, Bajrang Dal activists allegedly arrived in a pick-up van and waylaid a Scorpio at Seenabettu Perdur which was carrying cattle. Husainabba was one of the occupants in the Scorpio. According to the complaint, it was alleged that the Bajrang Dal activists had manhandled Husainabba and had murdered him.
Based on the complaint, the Hiriyadka police had filed a case under sections 143, 341, 147, 148, 427, 302 and 149 of the IPC.
