‘I am not Dumb Like Nalin to Accuse him of Lifting Sandalwood from IGP Bungalow’ – Minister Rai

Mangaluru: “I am not dumb like Nalin to accuse him of Lifting Sandalwood trees from IGP Bungalow. Nalin Kumar is residing close to the IGP bungalow and I am residing far away from the IGP residence. We have filed a case against a person and we are investigating the case. The forest is an open treasure and we have appointed forest officers to protect it”, said the district minister in-charge Ramanath Rai in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on August 29.

Addressing the mediapersons Ramanath Rai said, “Our district was famous for communal harmony but from some years now, we have witnessed communal violence. Some of the organizations indulge in communal violence. Most of the people in the district want to live in peace but some communal forces are creating violence in the district for their benefit. Due to the communal disturbances the society has been divided, communal hatred has even spread to the jails. Many people are being victimised due to communal hatred. We need to put an end to communalism and create communal harmony in the district.”

Ramanath Rai further said, “We need to be humans first and think of communal harmony. In this context, we have decided to hold a Harmony March from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. The Harmony March will be flagged off at Farangipet at 10:30 am and will culminate at Mani. During the Harmony March we will not entertain communal forces like BJP, SDPI and PFI. All the peace loving people from the district forgetting caste, creed, religion, and party should take part in the Harmony March. The March will not have any party flags or slogans in favour of any party or originations.”

When asked about becoming the home minister Ramanath Rai said, “In my entire political career I have not demand any portfolio. I am not that great to refuse or demand any post. Whatever portfolio the party has given me I have accepted it and worked with integrity. Whatever post the party will give, I will accept it and work for the party.”

DCC President Harish Kumar, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Mamatha Gatti, Suresh Ballal, Sashidhar Hegde and others were also present.
