I Called Bava but did not Pressurise him to Withdraw case – MLA Vedavyas Kamath
Mangaluru: “Assault on any MLA, political leaders or former leaders by anyone is condemnable. Those who had assaulted former MLA Moideen Bava came to me and requested me to talk to Bava to withdraw the case. I advised them to go to Moideen Bava and apologise, being a good man he would forgive them. Being a public servant, when they requested me, I spoke to Moideen Bava but did not pressurize him to withdraw the case”, said the MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency Vedavyas Kamath in a press meet held at the BJP office here on November 4.
Responding to the question posed by a journalist about the assault on Moideen Bava by Gulzar Banu’s son, Vedavyas said, “I conveyed the message to Moideen Bava. Being a public servant it is my duty, I just did the postman job in conveying the message to Moideen Bava”.
The are many examples in our state and country of leaders being assaulted with chappals and chairs. Sometimes when there are accidents people come to me seeking help. If there is anything I can do, I try to help, or in some cases, the victims file a case. Here in Bava’s case, people came to me seeking help and on behalf of them, I called Moideen Bava. I had also called the police station to get first-hand information about the incident since Moideen Bava couldn’t be contacted. The police had informed me that Moideen Bava had filed a case after the assault”.
