I Will Create Peaceful Environment for all Communities If I win LS Polls – Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: “I have respected all religions equally and I always wish that all the communities in the district live in peace and harmony. For a peaceful society, we need to elect a leader who treats all communities equally. I urge the people of the district to support me,” said Pramod Madhwaraj, the Congress-JDS coalition candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru.
He was addressing the Christian community leaders of various denominations of Udupi district at Hotel Mathura Comforts on Saturday, April 6.
Addressing the gathering, Pramod said, “I have served as the District Deputy Minister and MLA of Udupi. During my tenure, I had taken all the measures to avoid any communal conflicts in the district. Even though there were many communal clashes in the neighboring district, I had strictly informed the police officials that such communal clashes should not cross the border of Udupi district. The people of this district always want peace.” He said that he would work to create a peaceful environment for all communities if he will be elected as an MP.
Pramod further said, “If I would have been elected as the MLA in the last assembly elections, I would not get the chance to contest for the Lok Sabha Polls. The people in the twin districts should elect an MP who works for them.”
“If I win, I will do my duty in good faith,” he assured.
Pramod also said, “I have come to know that Christians are going to celebrate Maundy Thursday on April 18 and it will be a very important day for all of you. I urge all my Christian brothers to exercise their vote without fail.”
Ivan D’Souza, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Chief Minister, interacted with Christian leaders about the problems and demands of the community.
Christian community leaders Ronald Karkada, Wilson Rodrigues, Michael Ramesh D’Souza, Janet Barboza, Agnes D’Sa, Dr Neri Cornelio, Gerald Crasta, Melwyn D’Souza, Christen D’Almeida, Jithendra Furtado, Prashanth Jattanna, Louis Lobo, Dion D’Almeida and others were present.
Christian community youth leader Steevan Colaco compered the programme.
