“I will file Defamation case Against BJP leaders Ravi Shanker, Yeddyurappa and Shobha” – Pratibha Kulai
Mangaluru: “On April 1, in Bengaluru, the BJP leaders had released a booklet called “Chargesheet”, in which the BJP has used my photograph. When I approached the Police commissioner he suggested me to file a defamation case in the civil court. I have contacted my advocate Arun Bangera and according to his advise I will file a defamation case in the Mangaluru Court today against Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje”, said corporator Pratibha Kulai in a press meet held at the DCC office here on April 4.
Addressing the mediapersons Pratibha Kulai said, “This is not the first time the BJP has done such mistakes, they are repeatedly involved in such behaviour to defame the Congress leaders. On April 1, I was shocked to see my photograph on a TV channel in the “charge sheet” booklet release programme, which has hurt me a lot. As soon as I saw the news, I approached the Police commissioner to file a complaint against the BJP leaders and I was waiting for the response from the Commissioner. Yesterday evening the police commissioner said that as it is a civil matter and I should file a complaint in the court. So I contacted my advocate Arun Bangera to file a suit in the Mangaluru court. Today all the documents will be ready and we will submit them to the court.”
When asked about why the BJP used her photograph in the charge sheet, Pratibha said, “JD(S) Corporator in Bengaluru had alleged that a Congress MLA supporter had pulled her sari in public so they have used my photograph.”
When asked whether the photograph was printed by mistake Pratibha said, “If they have printed by mistake then I request the people of this country to avoid voting for the BJP because if they cannot manage to print a booklet properly then how will they rule the country? This is not the first time such mistakes have happened, they are intentionally defaming Congress leaders. If I file a case such mistakes will not be repeated.”
When asked about the show-cause notice issued to her by the DCC, Pratibha said, “It is my personal matter and I had defended myself when I was harassed. For me, my family comes first and politics next. I did not go against my party. I have received the show-cause notice asking for clarification on why I had approached the media without informing the senior party leaders. I have clarified the matter within the given time. In the Congress party, we have discipline and as a disciplinary measure, they have served me the notice asking for clarification on the matter. “
