I will not Join Politics, President of KSCMF Dr Rajendra During Felicitation
Mangaluru: A felicitation ceremony to the newly elected president of Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation Dr Rajendra Kumar was held at the SCDCC bank premises here on October 9.
The programme began with an invocation. Director of SCDCC Bank Dr Devi Prasad Shetty Belapu welcomed the gathering.
District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai along with MLA J R Lobo, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Amarnath Shetty felicitated Dr Ranjendra Kumar with a shawl, Peta, Garland, Flowers and memento.
Addressing the gathering Minister Ramanath Rai said, “There was a strong fight for the post of the president of Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation. It is not easy to get the President’s post in Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation because the one who is appointed should forget caste, creed and religion and work transparently, Dr Rajendra Kumar was the right candidate who has such qualities and has worked for the welfare of the Co-operative societies”.
Minister Rai further said, “The post of the president of Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation is a prestigious one and Dr Rajendra Kumar was unanimously elected. Dr Rajendra Kumar has the capacity to take the people into confidence to work for the development. Under the presidentship of Rajendra Kumar, the Co-operative Marketing federation will be strengthened. Let him be successful in his future endeavours.”
MP Nalin Kumar speaking on the occasion said, “Dr Rajendra Kumar is a star because he has loved the people and lived for them. He is the real star in the field of Co-operative societies. He deserves to be the president of the Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation. He has brought changes in the Co-operative societies. He should join politics in the coming days and serve the people. We need a candidate from the co-operative society to be in the Karnataka Legislative Council and Rajendra Kumar is the right candidate. I wish him success in his new position.”
Responding to the felicitation Dr Rajendra Kumar said, “I feel proud to be elected as the president of Karnataka State Co-operative Marketing Federation because I was alone from the minority community to contest the elections from Dakshina Kannada. When I thought of contesting the elections many people from the co-operative societies requested me not to contest for the post because, if I will win the elections, I will not be able to spend my time in Mangaluru. But there was also pressure from another group for me to contest the elections and finally, I made up my mind to contest. During the elections, there was a particular community fighting to get the presidentship for their community member. When I saw such politics during the elections I felt that the system is not good. But I was finally elected as the president and have shown that candidates even form the minority community can become the president. The co-operative field is very holy and I am happy to be part of it. I will not join politics since I am not interested in it.”
Rajendra Kumar also said, “During my 5 years of tenure as President I will work to strengthen the Co-operatives. Only in the Co-operative societies, beneficiaries get the direct benefit without any interference. I will work for the development of the farmers and give importance to their produce.
MLA J R Lobo delivered the presidential address. Manohar Prasad compered the programme. Former minister Amarnath Shetty, Aruna Rajendra Kumar, Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, Raviraj Hegde, Yashpal Suvarna, Satishchandra, Sridhar Bhide, Ravindra Kambali, Sarala Kanchan, Lakshmi Narayan and others were also present.
