‘I will Try my Best to Include Tulu in 8th Schedule’ – Minister Jayamala

Mangaluru: “I will try my best to include Tulu to the 8th Schedule and for that, we need to do a lot of work. I was born in Tulunadu and have great respect for the Tulu language. My mother taught me to speak Tulu and so Tulu is my mother tongue. We also need to construct Bhavans for Konkani and Beary Academies. At present we lack funds but in future, we will surely construct the Bhavans”, said the minister for Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Differently abled and Senior Citizens Dr Jayamala during a party meeting at the Congress office here on July 23.

Addressing the party workers, Minister Jayamala said, “This is my first visit to the district after becoming the minister and I am very much thankful to former minister Ramanath Rai, Abhaychandra Jain, Shakuntala Shetty and Ivan D’Souza for their support. Recently in the assembly elections, many of our leaders who gave top priority for development lost the elections. All our MLAs and ministers in Dakshina Kannada district have worked hard for the development of the district and their work will be remembered by the people.”

Minister Jayamala further said, “The former Prime minister Indira Gandhi was a great leader. She had proved that a woman can achieve anything. She was the voice of the voiceless and she had implemented many programmes to empower women. In the past five years when Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister, he had implemented the highest number of schemes successfully for the welfare of the people of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah is the only CM to complete 5 years of tenure without corruption.”

Minister Jayamala also said, “The Lok Sabha elections are nearing, be it in 2018, or 2019 victory will be ours. We all should work hard for the success of our party.”

A rousing welcome was given to Minister Jayamala by the party workers at the Congress office during her first time after becoming the Minister for Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens.

Former Ministers Ramanath Rai and Abhaychandra Jain, MLA Shankunthala Shetty, MLC Harish Kumar, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Suresh Ballal, Mamatha Gatti, P V Mohan, Rakshith, Rajshekhara Kotian, Sharlet Pinto, A C Bhandary and others were also present.
