ICGS Shoor all Set to Serve and Protect Maritime Interests of Nation

Mangaluru: Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Shoor’ is the second in the series of six 105 meter Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs). ‘Shoor’ meaning ‘Valiant’ is a projection of Indian Coast Guard’s will and commitment ‘To serve and protect” the maritime interests of the nation.

The ship has been designed and built indigenously by GSL and fitted with advanced navigation and communication equipment and sensors. The features include an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Integrated Machinery Control System (IMCS), Power Management System (PMS) and High Power External Fire Fighting System.

ICGS Shoor is designed to carry one twin engine Light Helicopter and five high-speed boats including two QRIB’s for fast boarding operations, search and rescue, law enforcement and maritime patrol at sea. The ship is also capable of carrying pollution, response requirement to combat any oil spill contamination at sea.
The ship draws 2350 tons (GRT) and is propelled by two 9100 KW diesel engines to attain a maximum speed of 23 Knots and has an endurance of 6000 nautical  miles at economical speed.
The ship has a complement of 14 Officers and 98 men who are specialists in their fields towards fulfilling the coast guard charter.
