ICYM Karkal-Town wins overall Championship in Youth Fiesta 2K17
Udupi: The ICYM Karkal-Town unit won the overall championship in the Youth Fiesta 2K17 organised by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement Udupi Diocese on Sunday, February 19 at the St Mary’s College Grounds Shirva. The ICYM Katapadi and Mundkur units won the Runners-up respectively.
The “Youth Fiesta 2K17” was witness by nearly 500 youth from across the diocese. The youth participated in various events such as Mime Show, Quiz, Collage, Pokana (Jokes), Face Painting etc.
The prize distribution was presided over by Msgr Baptist Menezes Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese. In his message, the Vicar General advised the youth to become creative in their talents, he called upon the ICYM youth to be united in promoting the Konkani language.
The Youth Fiesta 2K17 was inaugurated by Fr Stany Tauro head of Shirva Deanery and also Parish Priest of Our Lady of Health Church Shirva by opening the Youth Fiesta 2K17 board.
Yuva Puraskar was presented to Shainy Menezes (CA), Jasmine D’Souza (Karate), Jovita Andrade (NCC), Volita Lobo (Education), Avil Mendonca (CA), Ancilla Saldanha (Sports), Natasha Pais (Education), Lavita Pinto (Education), Raison Rebello (Sports), Roy Mathias (CA), Joslita Fernandes (Sports), Neelima D’Souza (Education), Alston Corea (Sports), Jackson D’Souza (Education) and Macklin Lobo (Education) on the occasion.
The office bearers of the ICYM diocese were felicitated by Youth Director Fr Edwin D’Souza with a Mysuru Peta, Shawl and memento.
ICYM Perampalli, Thottam, Udupi and Brahmavar Units won first second and Third place respectively in the Day in Diocese Documentation competition.
Fr Paul Rego (Director ICYM Shirva Deanery), Fr Mahesh D’Souza (Principal Don Bosco English School Shirva) Fr Herald Periera (Director Small Christian Committee Udupi Diocese), Wilson Rodrigues (member Zilla Panchayat), Wilson D’Souza (vice-president parish pastoral council Shirva), Errol Gonsalves (92.7 Big FM), Avil Saldanha (President ICYM Shirva), Walter D’Souza and Sr Hilda (animators ICYM Udupi Diocese) and others were present.
Loyal D’Souza President ICYM Udupi Diocese welcomed the gathering, Felina D’Souza Secretary delivered the vote of thanks. Royton D’Souza Kolalgiri compered the programme.
