ICYM Kulur Unit holds ‘Ujya Vine Randap – 2K18’

Mangaluru: ICYM Kulur Unit organised Ujya Vine Randap (Cooking without Fire) Competition on Sunday, 22nd July 2018 at the St Antony Church Hall, Kulur at 10:30 am. Godwin D’Souza – Secretary, ICYM Kulur Unit welcomed the gathering. Fr Vincent D’Souza – Parish Priest, St. Antony Church, Kulur presided and inaugurated the programme along with Aafrem Ferrao – Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council, Lavina D’Souza – President, Catholic Sabha Kulur Unit and Clever D’Souza – Animator, ICYM Kulur Unit.

Nigel Pereira (Owner – Hilton Caterers) and Neil D’Souza (Lecturer – Sarosh College of Hotel Management) were present as the guests on the dais. Nigel Pereira and Neil D’Souza were the judges for the programme. A total of 14 teams participated in this event.

The results of the competition are as follows:

St Lawrence Ward bagged – 1st place while St Antony 1st Ward bagged – 2nd place and St Antony 3rd Ward bagged – 3rd place.

David Monteiro – President, ICYM Kulur Unit delivered the vote of thanks. Carol Monteiro compered the programme.

ICYM Rosario Unit (Rosario Youth Movement) organises AIM 2018

Mangaluru: ICYM Rosario Unit (RYM) organised AIM 2018, A youth gathering programme to all youth of Rosario Unit on Sunday 22nd July 2018 at Rosario Cathedral Hall. The programme commenced with a prayer song led by the youth. Ashton Fernandes – Unit President welcomed the gathering.

Fr John Baptist Crasta – Rector, Rosario Cathedral presided and inaugurated the programme along with the Chief Guest – Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, Director – ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Fr Flavian Lobo – Assistant Parish Priest, Rosario Cathedral, Spokesperson of the Day – Dr Ajith, Dr Renita and Nelson Monis were the guests on the dais. Fr John Baptist Crasta addressed the youth and the gathering and said that the youth need to be active members of the church as this year we celebrate the Jubilee Year. To mark this auspicious occasion youth need to help in building our community.

Dr Ajith took over the session on the topic – Life, Stress habits and addictions. Dr Renita took over the session on the topic – Time Management and Nelson Monis took over the session on the topic – Stress Management, Personality Development and also conducted innovative games to the youth. More than 30 youth participated in this event.

Jaison Leroy Pereira, Shirthday – President, ICYM Mangalore Diocese was the guest for the concluding ceremony. Heshwal D’Souza – Secretary, Rosario Unit delivered the vote of thanks. It was a fun-filled day with entertainment, games etc and a day to remember.

ICYM Puttur Deanery holds ‘Yuva Drishti-2K18’

With Zeal and Enthusiasm, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Puttur Deanery organized One-day youth gathering programme “Yuva Drishti – 2K18” on Sunday, 22nd July 2018 at Mai De Deus Church Hall, Puttur from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Youth from Kadaba, Kokkada, Nelyadi, Panja, Uppinangadi, Puttur, Bannur parishes were present for the programme. The programme commenced with a prayer song led by the youth. James Crishal D’Souza – President, ICYM Puttur Deanery welcomed the gathering. Fr Alfred J Pinto – Vicar Forane, Puttur Deanery presided and inaugurated the programme as well as inaugurated the three initiatives taken by ICYM Mangalore Diocese: Red Drop Campaign, Each Plant One Plant – Grow Green, Drishti and implemented those initiatives in the Deanery along with Fr Praveen D’Souza – Director, ICYM Puttur Deanery, J.P. Rodrigues -Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council – Mai De Deus Church, Puttur, Frenton Irol D’Souza – Public Relations Officer, ICYM Mangalore Diocese and ICYM Mangalore Diocesan Representative for Puttur Deanery were present as the guests on the dais.

Anil Lobo – Former Diocesean President, Catholic Sabha was the spokesperson for the programme and addressed the youth on the importance of youth in our society. The Holy Eucharistic Celebration was celebrated for the youth followed by the lunch. In the post-lunch session Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza – Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza – Assistant Director, ICYM Mangalore Diocese along with the Executive Members of ICYM Mangalore Diocese were present, Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza and Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza addressed the gathering with a short message.

Youth were divided into groups and lot more activities along with games were conducted by ICYM Central Council Executive Members. Rakshith Pinto – Secretary, ICYM Puttur Deanery delivered the Vote of Thanks. Deepak D’Souza – Joint Secretary, ICYM Puttur Deanery compered the programme. After the concluding ceremony, Saplings were distributed to all the youth (one each) as an initiative – Each One Plant One – Grow Green. On this auspicious day, a total of 30 youth came forward to pledge their eyes for eye donation as an initiative – Drishti. It was a fun-filled day to all the youth of Puttur Deanery with the entertainment session, games and a day to remember.

ICYM Cordel Unit holds ‘Cordel’s Got Talent’

Mangaluru: ICYM Cordel Unit organized Cordel’s Got Talent – Singing, Fancy Dress and Dance Competitions for the parishioners.

The singing competition was held on 15th July 2018, Dance and Fancy Dress on 22nd July at Frad Saib Hall, Kulshekar. There were three main categories, 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 years and above 15 years) for singing, dance as well as for fancy dress competitions and most of the budding talents of Cordel parish took part with real enthusiasm.

Robin Sequeira and Meera Crasta were the judges for the singing competition. Dimple Pinto and Nishanth Torris were the judges for Dance and Fancy Dress Competition. Fr Victor Machado, Director – ICYM Cordel Unit, Fr Santhosh D’Souza, Assistant Director – ICYM Cordel Unit, Fr Patrick Sequeira, Assistant Parish Priest of Cordel Church, Loy Noronha, Vice – President and Saturnine Monteiro, Secretary – Parish Pastoral Parishad, Leera Lobo, Convenor of Singing competition, Rahul Sequeira, Convenor of Fancy Dress competition, Anisha D’Souza, Convenor of Dance competition were present.
