Idgah Mosque Surrounding Area to be Beautified – MLA Lobo

Mangaluru: The Guddali Puja for the beautification and development work of Idgah Mosque, was held at the light House hill road here on May 15.

The Kazi of Dakshina Kannada Twaka Ahmed Musliyar performed the Duva. Addressing the gathering Twaka Ahmed Musliyar said, “Idgah Mosque at the Light House Hill Road is a historic place. People who come to the Idgah Mosque are facing difficulties during the prayers because the flooring is not covered. Today MLA J R Lobo has come forward with Rs 65 Lakh to develop the area and beautify the surroundings of the Mosque. I pray to Allah to give MLA Lobo good health so that he can continue his good work to the society”.

The Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi speaking on the occasion said, “From the past seven years I was requesting the people’s representatives to develop the Idgah Mosque area by interlocking it. But none of them bothered to do it. When I met MLA J R Lobo he responded positively and today we have performed the Guddali Puja. The beautification of the Idgah Mosque and the development of the surrounding area will surely help the people who come to the mosque for prayers.” Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi thanked MLA J R Lobo for considering his request and providing necessary funds for the development of the Idgah Mosque.

Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Dionysius Vaz speaking on the occasion said, “When there is beautification of the city or development work, political leaders or the elected members should not think of caste, creed, and religion. Instead, they should give priority to the development work. Let brotherhood prevail in our society.”

MLA Lobo speaking on the occasion said, “After I become the MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency, Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi met me in my office and said that during the festivals and on Friday’s people find it very difficult to conduct prayers and move in the area”.

Lobo further said, “In this connection, I met the Chief minister and requested him to develop the Idgah Mosque area. My other demand was to develop the Mosque in Kannur which has a history of 400 years. Chief minister Siddaramaiah readily accepted my request and sanctioned Rs 65 lakh for the development of the Idgah Mosque and surrounding area and Rs 1 crore for the Mosque in Kannur. I am really thankful to CM Siddaramaiah for sanctioning the funds for the development of these two mosques.”

Lobo also said, “We all are the creation of one God. Before the next Ramadan, it is my wish to complete the development work and beautification of this area. Let us all respect the prayer place. If we do not develop the surrounding area of the Mosque, it will encourage anti-social activities. I request the people not to spoil the surrounding of the prayer place. Some small shop owners used to make money by selling Ganja here. They will make money but our children will get addicted and their family will suffer. If anyone sells Ganja in this area, they will be dealt with. Let all the people in this area join hands to develop this area”.

MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir, former Mayor Sashidhar Hegde, Corporators Vinayraj,  Sabitha Misquith, Nagaveni,  religious head of Idgah Mosque Sadaqathulla Nadwi, C A Raheem and others were also present.

“…surrounding area to be beautified…” – Report quoting a politician.

Every other day, this portal publishes reports on how ‘beautiful’ the city is filled with filth, garbage and illegal displays. Every weekend, we have volunteers going around the city cleaning up the garbage and filth. Meanwhile, our elected leaders are sanctioning crores of rupaayees to ‘beautify’ some areas. If you don’t see through this madness, you are sicker than you thought!!
