If Case is Filed against Khader for inciting Speech, Nalin, C T, Angadi Should also be Booked – Moily

Mangaluru: “The Central government has created unnecessary problems by implementing NRC and CAA. In Assam when the NRC has implemented people protested. Home minister Amit Shah has said that we will implement the CAA. But Narendra Modi says that NRC is not mandatory. Now the cabinet has approved over Rs 3900 crores for National Population Register (NPR). When the UPA was in power we had implemented it but now the Central minister Javdekar says that NPR has nothing to do with NRC. But the Home Ministry has clearly said that in the coming days NPR will be linked with NRC. This has created confusion among the people”, said the former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily in a press meet held at the DCC office, Mallikatta here on December 25.

Addressing the mediapersons Veerappa Moily said, “NRC is not only for Muslims but for all the people of this country who will suffer if they don’t submit their documents. In Karnataka, the government has opened a detention centre in Bandekoppa Nelamangala about 40 km from Bengaluru. The detention centre is likely to be opened from January. Those who fail to submit the documents they will be sent to the detention centres. Nearly 40 detention centres will be opened throughout the country. In 1947, during independence detention centres were opened in India and Pakistan. Why should the citizens now prove their citizenship? CAA is targetting a particular community.”

Moily further said, “When the Article 370 was scrapped, the government imposed section 144 in Kashmir, likewise, section 144 was imposed in Karnataka. Without any incidents of rioting, the government imposed section 144 in the state. The government was aware that there will be problems. In Mangaluru on December 18, some organizations sought permission to hold a protest at the Nehru Maidan but they were denied permission there and asked to hold the protest in front of the DC office. On December 18 evening the government imposed section 144 in the State. On December 19 some of the protesters who did not get the information about the cancellation of the protest gathered in front of DC office. But the police resorted to lathi-charge which led to violence. If the police would have allowed the protesters to protest, such an incident would not have happened.”

Moily also said, “A case is filed against MLA U T Khader saying that he has delivered an inciting speech. In Mangaluru when Karthik Raj was murdered, Nalin Kumar Kateel had said that he will set fire to the district. Nalin Kumar has a communal background and has a history of delivering inciting speeches but U T Khader is not a communal person. U T Khader had only advised that after the implementation of NRC and CAB, like Assam and other states which are burning after the implementation of NRC and CAB, Karnataka may also face a similar situation. The BJP leaders are calling U T Khader a traitor and have filed a case against him. If the case is filed against U T Khader, let the government file cases against Joshi, Angadi, Nalin Kumar Kateel and C T Ravi for their inciting speeches and statements.”

Moily also said that CM Yediyurappa has withdrawn the compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for Jalil and Nausheen’s family saying that FIR has been filed against Jalil and Nausheen. It is contempt of the office of the CM. Now they blame the Congress party saying that the Congress brought people from Kerala to protest. We demand a judicial probe by a sitting Judge of the High Court. Let the truth come out, we are open for any investigation. If the investigation is not done, the BJP should take responsibility for the incidents. Wherever BJP has been in power, people have died in police firing, why not in other states? Only in UP, Assam and Karnataka, innocent people are dying because of the divide and rule policies of the BJP government”, said Moily.

Former ministers Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, DCC President Harish Kumar, Kodijal Ibrahim, Sashidhar Hegde and others were also present.
