If Rajendra Kumar is given LS Ticket, I will Contest Against him – Poojary
Mangaluru: “The date for the Lok Sabha polls has been announced with many aspirants to contest the elections. Through the media, I have heard that the President of SCDCC bank Dr Rajendra Kumar has many friends in the Congress party and through them, he has been lobbying for the LS ticket. If Dr Rajendra Kumar is given the ticket to contest in Lok Sabha elections, I will surely contest against him”, said senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on March 14.
Addressing the mediapersons Janardhan Poojary said, “For the Lok Sabha elections 2019, there are many aspirants from the Billawa and Bunt community. From the Billawa community Vinay Kumar Sorake and B K Hariprasad are the aspirants and from Bunt community, Ramanath Rai and Mithun Rai are the aspirants. In between, I have heard that the SCDCC president Dr Rajendra Kumar through some Congress leaders is lobbying in Delhi for the Lok Sabha ticket. Some TV channels have already telecast allegations of corruption against Dr Rajendra Kumar and also the vice president of SCDCC bank Kishan Rai Kolkebail has alleged Dr Rajendra Kumar of corruption. I seriously doubt the Congress High command giving him the ticket”.
Poojary further said, “Dr Rajendra Kumar is not even the primary member of the Congress party. He has not registered his name under Shakti, he is not even fit to be the member of the Gram Panchayat. This time there are 16,97,417 voters in the district out of which 4 to 5 lakh are Billawas and the same number of minority voters. From 1977 to 1998 I have contested from Dakshina Kannada and won the elections 4 times. Now there is a demand from the people that the Billawa community leader should get the ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections. If the high command will give me the ticket I will contest from the DK Lok Sabha constituency”.
Poojary also said, “Next week I will go to Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and A K Antony to discuss giving me the LS ticket. I will also inform them about the corruption charges against Dr Rajendra Kumar. I hope the high command will not give the ticket to Dr Rajendra Kumar. If the high command gives me the ticket I will contest the elections or if the ticket is given to Sorake, B K Hariprasad or Ramanath Rai, I will support them. If in case the ticket is given to Dr Rajendra Kumar, I will contest against him”.
When asked whether the corruption charges are proved against Dr Rajendra, Poojary said, “I believe in the news published and carried by the media. TV channels have telecast corruption news of Dr Rajendra Kumar and I believe it to be the truth. If not let those channels telecast that he is not involved in any corruption and I will believe it.
