If Sand Problem is not Resolved by Nov 10 I will Go on Hunger strike – Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi: The indefinite day-and-night dharna organised by the district unit of BJP, Maraligagi Horata Samiti and 10 other organisations, in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding to clear the sand problem in the district has reached the seventh day. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math visited the protest place and extended his support for the protest.

Speaking on the occasion Pejawar Swamiji said, “The ban for extracting sand and too much of sand extraction from the rivers, both are affecting the environment. The Government should allow sand extraction with appropriate regulations in the state. The People of Udupi are suffering because of the scarcity of sand. Various organizations are protesting for 7 days seeking permission for the extraction of sand in the district. The Government should intervene immediately and clear the sand issue as early as possible. If the sand problem is not resolved by November 10 I will go on a Hunger strike”, he warned.

Udupi MLA K Ragupathi Bhat, Various organization leaders like Sudhakar Amin, Raghavendra Shetty, M G Nagendra, Ansar Ahmed and Krishnaraja Kodacha were also present.
