‘If Seen Wearing Hijab You’ll be Thrashed on Spot’- 2 Arrested for WhatsApp Message

Mangaluru: Among the various hate or threatening messages that get circulated on social media these days, and even I spite of people getting arrested for their stupid acts, seem like there is no end to it- because here is yet another hate/threatening message that was sent through whatsapp has landed two young men in soup?

According to reports, the Mangaluru City police have arrested two men accused of issuing threats to Hijab-clad women if they were found moving around in shopping malls, movie theatres, hotels and other recreation centres during the Holy month of Ramadan. The arrested persons are-Abdul Sathar (35) of Kadeshivalaya of Bantwal Taluk, and Mohammed Sadik (23), a resident of Kuppepadavu-they were arrested on May 25 and produced before court which has remanded them to judicial custody.

Both these men have been accused of circulating threatening messages aimed at Muslim women through WhatsApp. The message on WhatsApp reads: “It is a warning to Mangaluru Muslim Women. The Holy month of Ramdan month has started and if you are found in malls, film theaters and parks or consuming food while wearing Hijab you will be thrashed on the spot itself. Our eyes are watching you always. Let us see who will protect you- MDF Mangaluru.”
