If Yeddyurappa becomes CM of Karnataka, he will lose his post within 3 months – Prakash Rai

Udupi: “If BS Yeddyurappa becomes the chief minister of Karnataka, he will lose his CM post within 3 months”, said Multi-lingual Actor Prakash Rai. He was speaking during an interaction programme with Journalists at the Press Club here on April 24.

Addressing the mediapersons Prakash Rai said, “During the last BJP tenure, the people of Karnataka experienced the worst administration of BJP. The BJP government in the state had seen three chief ministers, BS Yeddyurappa, Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar in five years from 2008. I oppose the Rightists, but, I am not in favour of the Leftists. I am in favour of humanity. I have no intention to join politics. I have many questions to the political parties, including the Congress, and would raise them once I get the answer to my present questions through my Just asking campaign”.

Prakash Rai further said, “Instead of speaking about of the country some lawmakers make remarks on a particular community. They speak about changing the Constitution and eradicating a particular community from the nation. I am afraid of giving the country into the hands of such leaders, who are demonic in nature”.

Reacting to the Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha’s statements, Rai said that the MP speaks low language and comments on mother and wife. “Why do the BJP leaders not question these people who are trying to divide the country on the basis of the community?” he questioned.

“I am scared of what would happen if the BJP comes to power. I am worried about the safety of my wife, children and my mother. That’s why I have appointed bodyguards. Many ask me to go to Pakistan. Why should I go? People look like animals to animals,” he taunted MP Pratap Simha.

“Communalism is dangerous than corruption. Thus, I raise the question. My agitation is against the system and not against any particular community. The BJP or any party with communal ideology is dangerous for the country,” he said.

“The electorate should decide wisely and not cast their votes to persons creating communal tension. We all know the persons who are trying to spoil communal harmony. We also know the harm they will cause if they are elected. Those politicising Gods should not be encouraged. People are not fools, they knew the forces that are engineering communal riots. People should raise their voice against persons trying to engineer communal disharmony.”

Any religion does not teach hatred. But some people have been misinterpreting religion. The real ideals of the constitution are at stake because of a few who have been spreading fear and unrest in the country. Those who question the wrongdoings are threatened, he charged. Stating that people were not fools and the real issues were employment and job creation, farmers struggles and a fair price for all agricultural produce, he alleged that there were forces trying to hoodwink the public and mislead them by creating communal tension in the society.

He appealed to the people not to blindly cast their vote for a particular caste or get swayed by money power.

“I am a responsible citizen of India. I am creating awareness regarding ‘Just Asking’ campaign to share opinion freely. I am not asking for votes for any party. It is up to the voters. But be aware while casting your vote,” he added.

“Just asking is not a political forum. If anyone becomes a leader based on this movement, they will also become the opposition. I will organize statewide programmes and competition after June. I am not a leftist nor a rightist. But the country is living in fear due to politics of extremism and caste politics. India is a nation of multi-religion. The government should be beyond religion. I am not against Hinduism, but politics based on religion,” he clarified.

Mr Prakash Rai speaks sense – and hope people of Karnataka can understand how he relates. Karnataka needs people of his character and attitude, and pray he is genuine in his ideology. However, one cannot stand outside and expect betterment inside Karnataka and the people in authority.
