Illegal Cattle Transport Uncovered in Mangalore, Suspects at Large
Mangalore: Mangalore police intercepted a white mini goods vehicle in the vicinity of Surulpadi Mosque in the early hours of March 28, 2025, uncovering what appears to be a case of illegal cattle transportation intended for slaughter. The incident occurred during a routine patrol conducted by local law enforcement.
Upon intercepting the vehicle, the driver and two other occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The vehicle, found to be lacking license plates, was discovered to contain an estimated 15-20 cattle, restrained in a manner deemed by authorities as cruel and inhumane.
The vehicle was subsequently secured and transported to Bajpe Police Station. Veterinary officials were promptly summoned to examine the condition of the livestock. Tragically, two of the cattle were found deceased, succumbing to injuries sustained during the transport. The remaining animals are currently under veterinary care.
Preliminary investigations have yielded the vehicle’s original registration number, identified as KA 19 AF 1399. Police have identified two individuals suspected to be involved in the incident: Tauseef Peradi and Harine Peradi. The identity of the third individual remains unknown pending further investigation.
A formal case has been registered at the Bajpe Police Station under Crime No. 50/2025, invoking pertinent sections of the law relating to animal cruelty and the unlawful transportation of livestock. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ascertain the full scope of the operation. Law enforcement officials are appealing to the public for any information relevant to the case, urging individuals with knowledge of the incident or the individuals involved to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
