Illegal Sand Unit Raided in Paduthonse
Udupi: Acting on a tip-off, a team under the Village accountant of Paduthonse and officials on Monday, April 10 raided an illegal sand extracting unit and seized more than 3 loads of sand at Paduthonse near Udupi.
According to sources, Gururaj Suvarna ex-president of Sand workers association had complained to the Paduthonse Village accountant Reshma that illegal sand extraction was going on at the Paduthonse River. Acting on the tip-off the Village accountant and District Taskforce jointly raided the illegal sand extracting unit and seized the sand.
A case had been registered under the Mines and Minerals (Regulation & Development) Act and also the Karnataka Minor Mineral Consistent Rule.
