Illegal Transportation of Liquor, Three Arrested by CCB Police
Mangaluru: The CCB police succeeded in arresting three persons involved in the transportation of illegal liquor at Elyar Padav, Amblamogeru here on November 3.
The arrested have been identified as Denzil Wickson D’Souza (28) from Amblamogeru, Mohandas M Shetty (36) from Konaje and Boja Kottari (50) from Kuthar Kodi Munnur.
According to the police on November 3, receiving a tip-off that liquor was being transported illegally on a swift car, the CCB police got into action and intercepted the White Maruti Swift car bearing number KA 19 MC 5793 at Elyar Padav.
Police detained Denzil, Mohandas and Bojar Kottari and seized 350 litres of Liquor in 10 cans. The police also confiscated 4 mobile phones and the swift car by which the liquor was being transported, all worth Rs 7.2 lakh.
Earlier a case was filed against Denzil in the Konaje police station under the Excise act, Denzil is the brother of Melwyn who was involved in the Cricket Betting case. Mohan Shetty was also involved in the illegal transportation of Liquor and 2 cases have been registered against him in the Excise department for illegal transportation of liquor and each case in Konaje, Ullal and Vittal.
Under the able direction of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, and the able guidance of DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the CCB inspector Sunil Naik and team.
