IMA Holds Spectacular Quran for All Campaign
Kuwait: Indian Muslim Association (IMA) conducted a spectacular Quran for All campaign during 4-18 Nov 2016 in coordination with Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic affairs and Masjid Al Kabir. Several activities were conducted during the campaign such as Inaugural session at the Grand mosque of Kuwait, daily short video series by various speakers, Friday sermons, Distribution of Quran and related literature in various parts of Kuwait, Essay competition for School Children and an online quiz open to all and two concluding interfaith get-togethers in Indian Community School Salmiya and Unity Center Fahaheel.
Mohammad Iqbal Mullah, a visiting scholar from India attended two concluding sessions and spoke on the subject of ‘Contribution of Quran to humanity and its impact’ and ‘Quran’s contribution to global peace. During his address, he highlighted the contribution of the Quran towards scientific inventions, promotion of education and establishment of human values, which is a tremendous contribution to global peace. He urged all to read, understand and reform themselves based on the teachings of Quran.
Second Secretary of Indian Embassy Dr Sushil Kumar participated on behalf of Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sunil Jain in the concluding program at the Indian Community School Salmiya and said that arranging such interfaith gathering is very helpful in promoting intercultural harmony.
Various other prominent personalities from different organisations in Kuwait participated in the event such as Venkat Kudri from Telugu Kala Samiti, Rama Krishna chary from American Society of Safety Engineers, Jaya Kumar from Tamil Nadu Engineer’s forum, Domingos C Aujo from Goan welfare Society, Mahadevan from Arpan, and R RSethi from Satkar. All expressed support for any activities for promoting interfaith understanding. Nisar Ahmad and Sharafuddin Soofi presented power point presentation of ‘Signs of God in nature‘ and ‘Is Quran God’s word?’ respectively.
Khalid Al Sabea , head of the communities division of IPC and Eng. Dahmi Al Mutlaq from Kuwait University also graced the occasions with their presence.
Winners of the Essay completions were honoured with valuable prizes during the function by the president of IMA Masood Shihab. Prize winners were: First Prize – Albin Binoy (India International School, Mangaf), Second Prize-Leena Sujith (India International School, Mangaf) and Third Prize – Jabeen Sultan Ali (Indian English Academy School, Salmiya).
IMA ladies wing also participated actively in various activities of the campaign. Also, they conducted a separate event exclusively for women at the Indian Model School Salmiya.
Mansoor Abbas was event manager for the entire Campaign. Several hundred copies of Quran and several thousand copies of relevant literature related to Quran were distributed throughout Kuwait in order to promote the true peaceful message of the Quran .
