IMA Jewels chief Mansoor Khan summoned to appear before ED on June 24

Bengaluru: Enforcement Directorate (ED) ON Thursday served summons to Mohammed Mansoor Khan to appear before it on June 24 in connection with Karnataka Ponzi scam.

Mansoor Khan reportedly fled to Dubai on June 8. A request to issue Red Corner Notice is pending before Interpol.

As Mansoor Khan is absconding, the summons was served at IMA Jewels office in Bengaluru.

Mansoor Khan has been asked to appear before ED along with several documents mentioned in the summons.

KARNATAKA PONZI SCHEME

Mohammed Mansoor Khan, the owner of the company IMA Jewels, has been accused of running a Ponzi scheme. It is feared that the size of the scam is of about Rs 5,000 crore, with more than 30,000 people cheated by the Ponzi scheme company.

People not only from Bengaluru and Karnataka but also from Hyderabad, neighbouring Tamil Nadu and New Delhi have invested in the company.

SIT PROVE AND SEIZURES

The Special Investigating Team probing the Ponzi scam has seized several gems and jewels linked with the IMA Jewels.

During the raids at the office of IMA Jewels and his third divorced wife Tabassum Bano, SIT found Rs 33 crore worth jewels, precious gems and documents.

During the raid at IMA Jewels’ showroom at Jayanagar here, SIT seized 43 kg gold worth Rs 13 crore, 5,864 carat of diamond worth Rs 17.6 crore, 520 kg of silver worth Rs 1.5 crore and precious gems worth Rs 1.5 crore, a press release by SIT said.

The SIT found 1.5 kg of gold, 1.5 kg silver and Rs 2.69 lakh cash from Tabassum’s house in Shivajinagar, it said.

The probe team said it has identified 26 immovable properties, including commercial buildings, land, school property and apartments, which are said to be of Mansoor Khan.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday asserted that his government would bring to book the perpetrators of the Ponzi scheme fraud, irrespective of how influential they were.
