Officials and organizations should work effectively towards the implementation of the act, she added.

Vanitha Thorvi, member of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said that a drive has been launched to admit school dropouts for this academic year. “84% of crimes against children are unregistered. The regulations facilitating welfare and protection of children against crimes have been flouted in JJ Act 2015. A survey should be conducted by Central and State government to identify children subjected to crimes which include rape, harassment and also crime committed by children for the effective implementation of JJ Act 2015. CWC members should effectively monitor crimes against children and also crimes committed by children,” she added.

All suggestions made during the meeting will be compiled and sent to the Women and Child Welfare Department, New Delhi. Gracy Gonsalves (Deputy Director Women and Child Welfare Department), Nirajan Bhat (District Disability Welfare Officer) and others were present.
